First Ukrainian Family Movie
A long-expected event in the cultural life of Ukraine – a presentation of the first Ukrainian musical feature film-tale for the whole family “The Cool Story” shot with the assistance of the State Cinematography Service of Ukraine and the Ministry for Culture of Estonia, to be held at the cultural center of KYIV Cinema (19, Chervonoarmiyska Str.) on Feb. 29, 2008 at 5:00 p.m.
Uniqueness of the film project. Some experts refer the movie to the
“sleepers”, i.e. films that regardless of their low-budget may
potentially arouse great interest of the public.
Film uniqueness includes:
First. This is the first Ukrainian film shot at rare for the world
cinematography genre of eccentric musical tale for watching in family
circle, which is considered to be the most difficult to make but the
most public-welcome.
Second. This is a large international film project realized by producer
Olena Fetisova (INTERFILM film studio, www.interfilm.biz) and Estonian
co-producers, where the Ukrainian side for the first time in the
history of the post-Soviet era of Ukrainian cinematography become the
main creative and financial power and produced the film conforming to
the world high-end standards.
Third. The movie is the double debut in the feature film cinematography
of one of the most famous and uncommon Ukrainian directors-documentary
film maker Roman Shirman and the composer Milosh Yelich - the arranger
for the popular Ukrainian band “Okean Elzy”.
Four. The film features a great deal of original imagery particularly
the collage of moving pictures, two- and three-dimensional animation
and music.
Film plot. “The Cool Story” is a film for both, adults and children,
where no parent will have to turn red covering their kids’ eyes and
ears from time to time. This is an ironic and exciting tale involving
romantic heroes, mean villains and desperate militarists. After the
complicated and cool plot collisions the Military Minister will come to
understand that it is nicer to save a human than to kill him/her; the
princess will find her beloved, and the foul spy will get her
comeuppance. All events of the film take place in the fairy-tale times.
That means that the medieval knights will be armed with modern
machine-guns, driving jeeps and communicating via sat-communications.
The princess will participate in the beauty contest and the queen will
admire watching TV-shows of her variety fetish.
